18-year-old Louis Makepeace is just 3ft 10in tall (1.16 m), but he has big dreams for a career in the kitchen. One day, he wants to run his own catering firm, or perhaps a restaurant, or a cafe.
In an ‘humiliating’ turn of events, he wasn’t allowed to attend the catering course he wanted at the Heart of Worcestershire College. The course leader told him he wouldn’t be allowed to work in a restaurant kitchen anyway and he would be too much of a ‘disruption’ to other students and a ‘safety risk’.
“We are supposed to have equality of opportunity yet I’m not allowed to do something I love doing.”
Chef Gordon Ramsay didn’t take long to respond after Louis’ story was shared on Twitter:
“Disgusting attitude, I’d offer him Apprenticeship any day.”
Louis later commented:
"It would be an honour to work with him. I really hope he means it as it would be a dream come true. It is just amazing to receive his backing. I can't believe it."
