Unlike many who’ve achieved fame and fortune, Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat, 63, lives a modest life and beside work, he spends most of his free time enjoying favorite hobbies - hiking and charity work.
To many, it comes as a surprise, that a man worth almost a billion US dollars, lives on about $100 per month in one of the most expensive cities on the planet. It turns out, he likes to stay frugal. Until recently, he used a 17-year-old Nokia phone and only recently switched a smartphone when his phone stopped working.
He takes public transport regularly and is not afraid to share his wealth. He proudly admits that he shops at discount stores and wears $2 sandals, $14 shirt, etc.
“I don’t wear clothes for other people. As long as I think it’s comfortable, then it’s good enough for me.”, he says.
Among his many movies, Chow Yun-fat is best known to western audiences for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000) and “Crazy Rich Asians” (2018).
